DC POWER is an emerging organization in the city of Washington, DC - created, designed, formed and implemented by a group of approximately 40 key clergy, along with lay leaders and union leaders.
DC POWER formed in reaction to the rapidly changing dynamics of the District of Columbia, conditions and trends not being addressed in a meaningful way by other organizations.
It rooted itself primarily in local congregations, which along with the neighborhoods they serve, are also experiencing new and challenging pressures. Those congregations are committed to imagining their next phases of creative and purposeful ministry.
TRAIN the next generation of civic leaders, grounded in congregations and communities, and equipped to both play defense, responding to crises as the occur, as well as playing offense, implementing creative solutions that benefit long-time residents, as well as the new comers to the city.
PLAN and PROPOSE a new period of affordable ownership and rental housing on religious and other sites so that working and working-poor residents can remain in the city or move to the city.
SUPPORT elected officials when they advocate for policies that enable working and working-poor individuals and families to build equity and invest in their communities.
